January 2015 marks the 20th year of The Line Gallery's arrival on Linlithgow High Street, and marks the start of our 21st year of exhibiting. How better, then, to mark this great occasion than with a remarkable display of paintings by an artist whose work we have shown since her second year at Edinburgh College of Art. Three Rivers Meet by Ruth Nicol marks her response to the landscapes inhabited and loved by the poets depicted in Alexander Moffat's famous The Poet's Pub. Scotland's countryside and urban settlements are addressed and laid bare from The Barras to Assynt (above) from Arthur's Seat to Raasay settlements and hillsides, roads and waterways are laid out before us. These landscapes gave breath to poets, gave sustenance to words and, now, challenge the viewer to respond.
We are delighted to welcome you to The Line's 20th birthday party which marks the opening of this remarkable show on Saturday January 31st from 1pm to 5pm. We are are also pleased to be showing the latest jewellery collection by Dianne King - Memory of Water - for the same period.
The Line is working in conjunction with The Park Gallery in Falkirk on Three Rivers Meet, where the seven epic landscape canvasses will be housed from Feb 2 to April 19. On January 31st we have arranged for a minibus to take visitors from one venue to the other in the middle of the afternoon.
Do come along and help us celebrate!
